FAQ

QUESTIONS
FRÉQUENTES

Travelling by motorhome is a guarantee of unforgettable family moments. Children love to go away with their parents, but especially with their grandparents! That's why most models in the AUTOSTAR range are available with a 4-seater carte-grise.

In recent years, the nasturtium has ceased to be the only model suitable for families. You can also travel with your children in an integral or profile model. In fact, most profiles have 4 sleeping berths: a permanent bed at the rear of the vehicle and a 2-seater bed integrated into the ceiling.

For added convenience, we recommend our models with a layout that has been very much in vogue for some years now: the face-to-face saloon. They offer a feeling of space and conviviality, with an open kitchen, a spacious lounge and 2 Aguti road seats, including a 3-point seatbelt, concealed in the 2 bench seats. These 2 road seats can be unfolded in a matter of seconds. Converting the bench seat into a car seat is quick and easy!

As of the 2019 range, all AUTOSTAR models with face-to-face lounge will be equipped with the ISOFIX system for maximum safety and comfort. This system offers numerous advantages for child car seat installation.

You can travel without recharging the batteries for several days. A motorhome is equipped with 2 types of battery. The carrier battery, with normal discharge, is used to start the vehicle. And the cell battery, with slow discharge, for use in the cell. You can check the battery status on the main control panel.

To recharge, most motorhome owners stop off at motorhome parks. These are equipped with 220V sockets, so you can preserve your battery for the night or a few days. There are many motorhome parks in France. Applications such as park4night allow you to discover and share great places to stay.

As a complement to your battery, a solar panel can be very useful, providing you with a permanent charge. There are many different models and power ratings. Contact your motorhome dealer or EURO ACCESSOIRES, the TRIGANO specialist in camping accessories.

It all depends on the level of finish of your motorhome. Insulation, for example, is an important element. There are different types of insulation. Autostar uses high-performance materials to protect your vehicle from external aggression (gravel, branches, etc.). Much less brittle than aluminum, PROTEC-STAR construction (polyester or alufiber) provides optimum protection for all exterior surfaces of the cell (roof, sides, rear and subfloor). Styrofoam, much stiffer and more efficient than polystyrene, insulates your motorhome even better.

The double floor

For intensive travelers, the double-floor not only offers storage space for bulky items (skis, snowboard, parasol, fishing rod), but above all protects pipes and water tanks from the cold. A great asset for winter travelers!

Good ventilation

AUTOSTAR VENTIL'PLUS technology also ensures that warm air is distributed more evenly throughout the motorhome. The design of the furniture includes numerous vents, grilles and air passages to effectively combat condensation problems.

Heating

Of course, heating capacity is of prime importance in winter.

Most motorhomes are equipped with TRUMA COMBI 4 (4000 W) or TRUMA COMBI 6 (6000 W) boilers. To extend gas cylinder autonomy, we recommend the EH option, which allows you to use 220 V heating.

But if you're looking for top-of-the-range heating, we recommend the ALDE heating system fitted to Autostar vehicles. This boiler system operates alternatively on gas or electricity, distributing gentle, even heat throughout the motorhome via radiators. Air heated by a heat transfer fluid circulates naturally in the cabin, providing a healthy atmosphere for occupants. AUTOSTAR, a pioneer in this field, has been using ALDE heating systems for 30 years!

Pay particular attention to the vehicle's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). With a car driver's license (B), you can drive any model, large or small, with a maximum GVW of 3,500 kg.

For vehicles exceeding this load, a HGV license is compulsory. However, if you obtained your "B" license before January 20, 1975, this will suffice. You'll need to apply to the prefecture. No specific medical examination is required. However, your motorhome will have to undergo a technical inspection once a year.

If you have a C license, you can choose the GVW extension option when ordering your motorhome. Don't hesitate to ask your dealer for more detailed information.

When buying your motorhome, be sure to consider all the options you need before placing your order. Of course, your Autostar dealer will be able to guide you.

For carrier-related options such as 150 hp or 180 hp engines, auto gearboxes, alloy wheels, etc., the manufacturer orders a chassis configured to your specifications. The manufacturer orders a chassis configured to your specifications. As the preparation time is quite long, the manufacturer will not be able to modify the carrier options after a few weeks.

For cell-related options such as oven, hitch, cylinders, insulated water tank, heating, etc., the dealer orders these from the manufacturer. These are ordered by the dealer from the manufacturer. They are defined when the order is placed.

For accessories, such as bike racks, blinds, TVs, etc., these are often fitted by dealers. These are often assembled by distributors. The lead time is much shorter if modifications are required.

With a B license, you can drive any motorhome, large or small... as long as its GVW does not exceed 3,500 kg.

However, if you want to rent a motorhome, you'll need a minimum 3-year driving license and to be at least 21 years old. Our partner HERTZ, a member of the TRIGANO group, will be able to advise you on the type of vehicle to rent if you have recently obtained your driving license.

It's a fairly substantial investment, and before making a choice, you need to ask yourself the right questions. How many carte-grise seats correspond to the number of people likely to travel on board? Do you need a permanent berth and a second berth? Do you need a hold for your bicycles? Will you be using it in winter too? If so, the insulation of your motorhome will be essential. And don't forget your payload if you're planning to carry a lot of accessories.

Distributor networks

To answer these questions, we recommend that you speak to a sales consultant. He or she will be able to guide you towards the new or used model that best suits your needs.

There are a large number of distributors who can offer you new or used AUTOSTAR vehicles.

Trade shows

If you want to see a large number of models in a short space of time, don't hesitate to visit a motorhome show. You'll find motorhome shows in most major cities. These are organized by local dealers and take place all year round.

You can also visit the Salon des Véhicules de Loisirs at Le Bourget. This takes place in late September, early October. In principle, you'll find all the models available in France. Autostar presents a large part of its range over 1300 m2.

You can buy your used motorhome privately. It's a good way of getting a good deal, but beware: you won't have any guarantees in the event of a problem.

Used models are also available to professional customers, especially AUTOSTAR authorized dealers. They'll have a wider choice. What's more, the vehicle will be serviced and the dealer will offer you a vehicle warranty. For you, it's the assurance of buying with confidence.

To find out the argus value of a motorhome, it's important to know the value of the vehicle, taking into account any optional extras and cell equipment. With regard to mileage, the rating is based on 12,000 km per year.

This is often a basic calculation. Because the true value of the vehicle is determined by the motorhome market. The brand is an essential criterion for setting the final price.

In fact, used AUTOSTAR motorhomes often have a very good Argus rating, as they have a reputation for high quality and reliability. To find out about the Argus rating, you can ask the dealers in the AUTOSTAR network.

Specialized magazines and websites

You'll also find an argus price base in specialist magazines such as CAMPING-CAR MAGAZINE or LE MONDE DU CAMPING-CAR.
